Glace Bay opens Panther Classic with victory over Sydney Academy

SYDNEY, N.S. — 

The Glace Bay Panthers opened the Panther Classic with a 6-2 victory over the Sydney Academy Wildcats at the Canada Games Complex on Thursday.

The Panthers scored four goals in the second period, which proved to be the difference in the game.

Logan Snow and Dylan O’Neill both scored twice for Glace Bay, while Xavier Johnson and Mitchell MacDonald chipped in with a single marker.

 

 

 

Connor Campbell and Belle Jacobs replied with goals for the Wildcats.

Colton Boutilier made 11 saves for Glace Bay. Daniel MacGillivary turned aside 41 of 47 shots for Sydney Academy.

In other action, the Riverview Redmen blanked the Memorial Marauders 5-0.

Nathaniel Fuller had a hat trick for the Redmen, while Curtis Novak and Chase Sampson also netted goals.

Michael MacMullen stopped all 22 shots for the shutout. Aidan Penny turned aside 19 of 24 shots for Memorial.

The Panther Classic will resume on Friday.
