Panthers, Redmen and Wildcats to play in City of Lakes tournament

SYDNEY, N.S. — 

Three Cape Breton high school hockey teams will take part in the City of Lakes hockey tournament this week in Dartmouth.

The Glace Bay Panthers, Riverview Redmen and Sydney Academy Wildcats will participate in the tournament, hosted by the Dartmouth Spartans.

Glace Bay opens the tournament Friday with games at 12:45 p.m. against Citadel, and 6:30 p.m. against Park View. The Panthers finish the round robin Saturday at 10:45 a.m. against Miramichi Valley.

As for the Redmen, they will play Millwood Friday at 11:15 a.m., and Auburn Drive at 4:30 p.m. Riverview ends the round robin against Bernice MacNaughton school 8:45 a.m. Saturday.

Sydney Academy will kick off the event Friday at 1 p.m. against the host Dartmouth, before facing Prince Andrew at 8 p.m. The Wildcats will conclude the preliminary round of the tournament Saturday at 10:30 a.m. against Sussex.

Semifinal and championship details were not confirmed at press time.
