Panthers to tangle with Redmen in high school league finals

NEW WATERFORD, N.S. — 

The Glace Bay Panthers advanced to the Cape Breton High School Hockey League finals after a 6-2 win over the Memorial Marauders on Saturday.

The victory gave the Panthers a 3-1 series win over the Marauders at the New Waterford and District Community Centre in one of two league semifinals. The Riverview Redmen defeated the Sydney Academy Wildcats three games to none in the other series.

Brayden Boutilier led Glace Bay with two goals and an assist, while David Beaton had three assists. The other Panthers goal scorers were Adam Hicks, Connor MacIntyre, Matthew MacIntosh and Jarrett Hicks. Noah Forrest and Jacob Jessome replied for Memorial.

The best-of-five league finals starts tonight (Monday) at the County Arena. The puck drops at 7:30. Game 2 is set for the Canada Games Complex on Thursday at 6:10 p.m., while Game 3 is scheduled for Friday at 7 p.m. at the County Arena.
