MacKinnon scores winner as Riverview defeats Memorial in high school hockey Thursday

NORTH SYDNEY, N.S. — 

Noah MacKinnon scored twice, including the game-winner, to help the Riverview Ravens defeated the Memorial Marauders 5-3 in Cape Breton High School Hockey League action at the Emera Centre Northside on Thursday.

Jack MacDonald, Archer Balcom and Colby McCarron also chipped in with goals for the newly named Ravens (1-0-0-0).

Evan Fraser, Noah MacLeod and Ian Jenkins replied with goals for the Sydney Mines-based Marauders (0-1-0-0).

Riverview's Patrick Hinchey made 24 saves. Memorial's Andrew Marsh turned aside 16 of 21 shots.
 

 


Memorial outshot Riverview 27-21 in the contest, while going 0-for-3 on the power play. The Ravens were 1-for-4 with the man-advantage.

Riverview and Memorial will be back on the ice on Friday when the teams meet at 7 p.m. at the Cape Breton County Recreation Centre in Coxheath.
