Glace Bay Panthers open high school hockey league championship series with win over Memorial Marauders

GLACE BAY, N.S. — 

The Glace Bay Panthers are one victory away from winning the Cape Breton High School Hockey League championship.

The Panthers defeated the Memorial Marauders 8-1 in Game 1 of the league final series at the Miners Forum in Glace Bay on Sunday.

Jonathan Gallant, Jarrett Hicks and Logan Snow each scored twice, while Brady Doucette and Ethan Murrant chipped in with single markers for the Panthers.

Nolan Ryan had the lone goal for the Marauders.

 

 

Glace Bay's Darian MacInnis made 25 saves. Memorial's Aiden Penny stopped 21 of 29 shots.

Game 2 of the series will take place on Thursday at 7:45 p.m. at the Emera Centre Northside in North Sydney.
