Glace Bay Panthers open home schedule with convincing win over Sydney Academy Wildcats Sunday

The defending league champions are 3-0 to open the regular season.

GLACE BAY, N.S. - After starting the season with a pair of road games last week, the Glace Bay Panthers opened the home portion of their Cape Breton High School Hockey League season with a win on Sunday.

The Panthers downed the Sydney Academy Wildcats 8-2 in front of a packed house at Miners Forum in Glace Bay.

Brady Doucette and Landon Clark both scored twice, while Mason Fraser, Dylin White, Tyler Cormier, and Parker Hutchings chipped in with goals for the Panthers (3-0-0-0).

Kenzie Carew and Nolan Brophy replied with goals for the Wildcats (1-1-0-0).

Glace Bay's Darian McInnis made 13 saves. Sydney Academy's Daniel MacGillivary stopped 32 of 40 shots.

Sydney Academy will return to the ice on Tuesday when they host the Riverview Ravens at 7 p.m. at the Membertou Sport and Wellness Centre.
