SYDNEY, N.S. — The host Glace Bay Panthers skated to a 5-1 win over the Sydney Academy Wildcats to open the 2018 Panther Classic high school hockey tournament Thursday at the Canada Games Complex.

Colin Rosta, Xavier Johnson, Connor McIntyre, Darcy O’Brien and Tyler Mortimer scored for the Panthers, while Coady DeMone replied for the Wildcats.

In goal, Nick Bigley posted the win, while Hunter Chenhall shouldered the loss.

In the opener, the Riverview Redmen blanked the Memorial Marauders 2-0. Brady MacLean and Dylan MacDonald scored.
 

Michael MacMullen posted the shutout in goal. Spencer Shebib took the loss.

Tournament play continues Friday.
