Riverview Ravens spoil Sydney Academy Wildcats home opener to kick off Cape Breton High School Hockey League season

SYDNEY, N.S. - The Riverview Ravens kicked off the 2022-23 Cape Breton High School Hockey League regular season with a victory on Tuesday.

The Ravens spoiled the Sydney Academy Wildcats home opener, blanking the team 6-0 at the Membertou Sport and Wellness Centre.



Luc Sampson had two goals, while Matthew LeBlanc, Keigan Geizer, Ryan Beaton, and Curtis Fogarty chipped in with single markers for the Ravens (1-0-0-0).

The Wildcats' record stands at 0-1-0-0.

Riverview's Andrew Burke made 16 saves for his first career high school shutout. Sydney Academy's Brody Campbell turned aside 39 of 45 shots.

Cape Breton High School Hockey League action continues on Thursday when the Memorial Marauders host the Glace Bay Panthers at 7:20 p.m. at the Emera Centre Northside in North Sydney.
