Balcom, Riverview Ravens down Glace Bay Panthers in Cape Breton High School Hockey play Friday

COXHEATH, N.S. – The Riverview Ravens have had the number of the Glace Bay Panthers early in the Cape Breton High School Hockey League season.

For the second straight game, the Ravens defeated the Panthers 5-1 at the Cape Breton County Recreation Centre in Coxheath on Friday.

Royce Balcom scored twice, while Luc Sampson, Gahan Rector, and Aidan Stanwick added single markers for the Ravens (6-0-0-0).

Braydon MacDonald had the lone goal for the Panthers (3-3-1-0).

Riverview’s Ryan MacDonald made 17 saves. Glace Bay’s Kristian MacKenzie allowed five goals on 20 shots, before being replaced by Brandon Cole who stopped all nine shots he faced in his 15 minutes of relief.

High school hockey league action continues on Sunday when Glace Bay hosts the Memorial Marauders at 7 p.m. at Miners Forum in Glace Bay.
