Riverview Ravens double up Memorial Marauders in high school hockey Friday

COXHEATH, N.S. - The Riverview Ravens claimed a 6-3 victory over the Memorial Marauders in Cape Breton High School Hockey League action at the Cape Breton County Recreation Centre on Friday.

Gahan Rector scored twice and added an assist, while JC MacDonald, Royce Balcom, Grant Cameron, and Josh Novak chipped in with single markers for the Ravens.

Daniel Young netted a pair of goals, while Ryan MacMullin also added a goal for the Marauders.

Riverview's Devon Gallant made 16 saves. Memorial's Tye Swan stopped 20 of 26 shots.

The Cape Breton High School Hockey League regular season continues with all four teams playing in rare Saturday contests.

Riverview will play Sydney Academy at 3:30 p.m. at Centre 200 in Sydney, while the Glace Bay Panthers will host Memorial at 7 p.m. at the Miners Forum in Glace Bay.

Geizer scores game-winner as Riverview Ravens edge Sydney Academy Wildcats in high school hockey Tuesday

The two teams are in line to meet in the league playoffs later this month.

SYDNEY, N.S. - Keigan Geizer's second period goal proved to be the game-winner as the Riverview Ravens edged the Sydney Academy Wildcats 4-3 in Cape Breton High School Hockey League action at the Membertou Sport and Wellness Centre on Tuesday.

Riverview held a 4-1 lead going into the third period, but the Wildcats responded with a pair of third period goals to cut the lead to one, but that's as close as they would come to tying the game.

Royce Balcom scored twice, while Gahan Rector added a single marker for the Ravens (8-4-1-0).

Ty Axeworthy, Ryan MacNamara and Braylan Fitzgerald replied with goals for the Wildcats (3-10-1-0).

Riverview's Patrick Hinchey made 19 saves. Sydney Academy's Liam Collings turned aside 31 of 35 shots.

Cape Breton High School Hockey League action resumes on Thursday with the Memorial Marauders hosting Sydney Academy at 7 p.m. at Emera Centre Northside in North Sydney.

Glace Bay Panthers claim road victory over Memorial Marauders in high school hockey action Thursday

Landon Clark, Adam Hicks, and affiliate player Ryan Ellsworth each scored twice for Glace Bay in the game.

NORTH SYDNEY, N.S. - The Glace Bay Panthers kept their regular season undefeated streak alive in North Sydney on Thursday.

The Panthers captured an 8-3 victory over the Memorial Marauders in Cape Breton High School Hockey League regular season action at the Emera Centre Northside.

Landon Clark, Adam Hicks, and affiliate player Ryan Ellsworth each scored twice, while Brady Doucette and Tyler Cormier added single markers for the Panthers (13-0-0-0)

Daniel Young, Davis MacInnis, and Ryan MacMullin responded with goals for the Marauders (2-8-2-0).

Glace Bay's Owen Coombes made 15 saves. Memorial's Tye Swan turned aside 29 of 37 shots.


Cape Breton High School Hockey League action resumes on Friday with the Riverview Ravens hosting the Sydney Academy Wildcats at 8 p.m. at the Cape Breton County Recreation Centre in Coxheath.
