Panthers power past Wildcats in Cape Breton high school hockey play

GLACE BAY, N.S. — Parker Hutchings’ tie-breaking, second-period goal helped power the Glace Bay Panthers past the Sydney Academy Wildcats in Cape Breton High School Hockey League action Tuesday night at Membertou Sport and Wellness Centre.

Adam Hicks led the Panthers with two goals, including the final period empty-netter, while Dylin White also scored for the Panthers.

Alex Chenhall provided the lone Wildcats goal.

Owen Coombes made 15 saves for the Panthers, while Wildcats’ Liam Collings stopped 31 of 35 shots on goal.

COXHEATH, N.S. - The Riverview Ravens downed the Memorial Marauders 4-2 in Cape Breton High School Hockey League action at the Cape Breton County Recreation Centre on Friday.

Noah MacKinnon and Royce Balcolm had a goal and an assist each, while Arlen Denny and Grant Cameron chipped in with single markers for the Ravens (6-2-1-0).

Davis MacInnis and Dylan Campbell replied with goals for the Marauders (1-7-2-0).

Riverview's Devon Gallant made 13 saves. Memorial's Jack MacPhee stopped 40 of 44 shots.

Alex Chenhall's hat trick powers Sydney Academy past Memorial in high school hockey

SYDNEY, N.S. - Alex Chenhall's hat trick was the difference in the Sydney Academy Wildcats' 5-1 win over the Memorial Marauders in Cape Breton High School Hockey League action at the Membertou Sport and Wellness Centre, Tuesday.

Along with finding the back of the net three times, the Wildcats' captain also added an assist and drew a penalty shot in the second period.

Kenzie Carew and Braylan Fitzgerald also found the back of the net for the Wildcats (3-6-1-0).

Daniel Young had the lone goal for the Marauders (1-6-1-0).

Sydney Academy's Jimmy MacInnis made 25 saves. Memorial's Tye Swan was between the pipes, but his statistics were not accurately reported on the game sheet.

COXHEATH, N.S. - The Glace Bay Panthers remained undefeated in Cape Breton High School Hockey League regular season action on Friday, defeating the Riverview Ravens at the Cape Breton County Recreation Centre.

Adam Hicks had two goals and an assist, while Jonathan Gallant added two goals, and Landon Clark chipped in with a goal and an assist for the Panthers.

Brennan Moore had the lone goal for the Ravens.

Glace Bay's Darian MacInnis was between the pipes in the win. Riverview's Devon Gallant was in goal for the loss. Statistics were not provided.

MacMullin scores overtime winner to lead Memorial past Sydney Academy in high school hockey Thursday

The victory comes as Memorial's first of the season

SYDNEY, N.S. - Ryan MacMullin's goal at 2:03 of overtime powered the Memorial Marauders to a 5-4 win over the Sydney Academy Wildcats in Cape Breton High School Hockey League action at Emera Centre Northside, Thursday.

Daniel Young found the back of the net twice, while Jackson Ford and Evan Fraser chipped in with single markers for the Marauders (1-5-1-0).

Kenzie Carew, Braylan Fitzgerald, Charlie Joe, and Nolan Brophy replied with goals for the Wildcats (2-6-1-0).

Memorial's Jack MacPhee made 29 saves. Sydney Academy's Liam Collings turned aside 40 of 45 shots.
