Memorial Marauders defeat Sydney Academy Wildcats in high school hockey Thursday

NORTH SYDNEY, N.S. — 

The Memorial Marauders posted a 5-2 win over the Sydney Academy Wildcats in Cape Breton High School Hockey League playoff action at the Emera Centre Northside on Thursday.

Mason Chapman and Ian Jenkins both netted a pair of goals, while Ryan MacMullin chipped in with a single marker for the Marauders.

Alex Chenhall and Ty Axworthy replied with goals for the Wildcats.

Memorial's Andrew Marsh made 15 saves. Sydney Academy's Liam Collings stopped 26 of 31 shots.

The Cape Breton High School Hockey League double round robin will continue on Sunday when the Glace Bay Panthers host Memorial at 7 p.m. at Miners Forum in Glace Bay.

Glace Bay Panthers shutout Sydney Academy Wildcats on the road Wednesday

MEMBERTOU, N.S. — 

The Glace Bay Panthers continued their Cape Breton High School Hockey League playoff dominance on Wednesday.

The Panthers blanked the Sydney Academy Wildcats 7-0 at the Membertou Sport and Wellness Centre.

 

Adam Hicks scored twice while Jarrett Hicks, Tye Clarke, Connor MacIntyre, Logan Snow and Jonathan Gallant chipped in with single markers for the Panthers (4-0-0-0).

With the loss, Sydney Academy's playoff record falls to 2-3-0-0.

Glace Bay' Owen Coombes stopped all 15 shots he faced. Sydney Academy's Daniel MacGillivary turned aside 37 of 44 shots.

Cape Breton High School Hockey League playoffs continue on Thursday when the Memorial Marauders host Sydney Academy at 7 p.m. at the Emera Centre Northside in North Sydney.

Chenhall scores winner to lead Sydney Academy past Memorial in high school hockey Wednesday

MEMBERTOU, N.S. — 

Alex Chenhall's power play goal at 4:25 of the third period proved to be the game-winner as Sydney Academy edged Memorial 2-1 in Cape Breton High School Hockey League playoff action at the Membertou Sport and Wellness Centre on Wednesday.

 

Mason Mills also found the back of the net on the power play for the Wildcats (2-2-0-0).

Mason Chapman had the lone goal for the Marauders (2-2-0-0).

Sydney Academy's Liam Collings made 27 saves. Memorial's Aidan Penny stopped 15 of 17 shots before being replaced by Andrew Marsh who faced one shot during the third period. Penny
was tagged with the loss.

Cape Breton High School Hockey League double round robin playoff action continues on Wednesday when Sydney Academy hosts Glace Bay at 7 p.m. at the Membertou Sport and Wellness Centre.

Sydney Academy upsets Riverview in high school hockey playoff action Friday

COXHEATH, N.S. — 

The Sydney Academy Wildcats may have only won two games during the regular season, but they already have one victory in three playoff games.


The Wildcats collected their first win in the Cape Breton High School Hockey League double round robin playoffs Friday, edging the Riverview Ravens 5-4 at the Cape Breton County Recreation Centre in Coxheath.

 

Ethan MacInnis scored twice while Mason Mills, Josh Turner and Lewis MacLellan added single markers for Sydney Academy (1-2-0-0).

Coby McCarron netted a pair of goals while Sam MacKinnon and Archer Balcom also found the back of the net for the Ravens (1-2-0-0).

Sydney Academy's Liam Collings made 26 saves. Riverview's Devon Gallant turned aside 17 of 22 shots.

O'Neill records four points to lead Glace Bay past Memorial in high school hockey playoffs Thursday

NORTH SYDNEY, N.S. — 

Dylan O'Neill had a four-point game to lead the Glace Bay Panthers to an 8-1 victory over the Memorial Marauders in Cape Breton High School Hockey League playoff action at the Emera Centre Northside on Thursday.


O'Neill's performance included a hat trick, which he completed in the second period.

Connor MacIntyre scored twice while Liam Peterson, Logan Snow, and Ty Clarke also scored goals for the Panthers (2-0-0-0).

 

Ian Jenkins had the lone goal for the Marauders (1-1-0-0).

Glace Bay's Darian MacInnis made 17 saves. Memorial's Andrew Marsh allowed seven goals on 20 shots, before being replaced by Aidan Penny, who stopped two of three shots in his 15 minutes of relief. Marsh was tagged with the loss.

Cape Breton High School Hockey League double round robin playoffs continue on Friday with the Riverview Ravens hosting the Sydney Academy Wildcats at 8 p.m. at the Cape Breton County Recreation Centre in Coxheath.
