Eskasoni defeats Dalbrae in high school hockey action

SYDNEY, N.S. – Kinnon Williams scored three times to lead the Riverview Redmen to a 11-0 win over the Sydney Academy Wildcats in Cape Breton High School Hockey League action at the Membertou Sport and Wellness Centre on Wednesday.

With the win, Riverview moves one point ahead of the Glace Bay Panthers for first place in the high school league standings.

Blake Cox, Josh MacAskill and Andrew McCarron each scored twice for the visiting Redmen, while Carter Harnish and Brady MacLean added single markers.

Ryan Tanner picked up the win in goal for Riverview. Donny GooGoo and Hunter Chenhall shared time in goal for Sydney Academy. GooGoo shouldered the loss.

Sydney Academy Wildcats to participate in Canadian Cup Tournament

SYDNEY – The Sydney Academy Wildcats high school hockey team will participate in the Canadian Cup Tournament in Montreal this weekend.

The Wildcats will join the Dartmouth High School, Oromocto High School, Craig Kielburger Secondary School of Milton, Ont., and Oak Park of Winnipeg, Man., at the tournament.

Sydney Academy will begin the tournament Friday at 6:15 p.m. against Oak Park, before playing Oromocto at 8:30 a.m. and Dartmouth at 2:45 p.m. on Saturday.

The tournament consolation game is set for Sunday at 11 a.m., while the championship contest is slated for 12 p.m.

Panthers clip Wildcats in high school hockey play

SYDNEY, N.S. — The Glace Bay Panthers defeated the Sydney Academy Wildcats 4-2 in Cape Breton High School Hockey League action on Sunday at the Canada Games Complex. Matthew MacIntosh scored twice for the Panthers, while Colin Rosta and Jarrett Hicks added single tallies. Nick Pustnick and Ethan MacInnis scored for the Academy. Glace Bay outshot Sydney 44-20.

MacIntosh's overtime goal leads Panthers past Marauders

NORTH SYDNEY, N.S. — Matthew MacIntosh scored two goals, including the overtime winner, to lead the Glace Bay Panthers to a 5-4 win over the Memorial Marauders in Cape Breton High School Hockey League action at the Emera Centre Northside on Thursday.
Aidan Donovan, Jarrett Hicks and Alec Campbell also netted goals for the Panthers. 
Nick Targett, Ian Jenkins, Jacob Fraser and Gord Walker replied with goals for the Marauders. 
Colton Boutilier picked up the win in goal for Glace Bay. Jonathan Dolomont was tagged with the loss for Memorial.

Marauders defeat Wildcats on the road;

SYDNEY, N.S. — Five different goal scorers powered the Memorial Marauders to a 5-3 win over the Sydney Academy Wildcats in Cape Breton High School Hockey League action on Wednesday.
Jacob Fraser, Nolan Ryan, Nick Targett, Ian Jenkins and Dovi Walker each scored goals for Memorial in the game, played at the Membertou Sport and Wellness Centre. 
Dylan Williams, Tytan Donovan and Ethan MacInnis replied with goals for the Wildcats. 
Spencer Shebib picked up the win for Memorial. Hunter Chenhall and Donny GooGoo shared time in goal for Sydney Academy in the loss.

Redmen to participate in Moncton High School Hockey Classic

SYDNEY, N.S. — One year after losing in the championship game, the Riverview Redmen are going back to the Moncton High School Hockey Classic. 
The Redmen will be among 14 teams participating in the four-day tournament, which begins Thursday. 
Riverview will open the tournament on Friday at 10 a.m. against the Riverview Royals of Riverview, N.B. The team will also play the Mathieu-Martin Matadors of Dieppe at 5:15 p.m.
The Coxheath school will wrap up the round robin on Saturday at 9:15 a.m. against the Sackville Kingfishers. 
The tournament quarter-finals will take place on Saturday evening, while the semifinals and championship games are set for Sunday.
